A major partner of GCC for food security, Brazil is home to various technology and nature based carbon removal projects. We are using technology to enhance carbon removal potential of forest soil in Brazil.

Key call outs for the project:

  • 126,000 ha forest area is reconditioned and improved through proven biochar application technology.
  • Over 30,000 tonnes of CO2 removed from the atmosphere per annum.
  • Small farmers residing in surrounding areas of the forest are supported for agricultural productivity improvement.

By enhancing carbon removal potential of forest soil through biochar generated from 100% Forest Stewardship Council certified wood biomass, the project removes over 30,000 tonnes of CO2 from the atmosphere per annum.
